Three Ways to Protect The Personal Info on Your Phone
Have you ever thought about all the information that you keep on your phone? How many contacts do you have, and how much of their information is in your phone? What about photos? As I write this I can see I have 9339 photos and 236 videos! And I bet that’s a low number compared to some. That doesn’t include undeleted text messages and emails.
What steps are you taking to help protect that information?
The Federal Trade Commission has some great tips that we all should be following to help protect the information we have on our phone, as well as contact info we have on friends and family.
Click this link HERE to learn more about these three key ways we can protect our personal information:
- Lock it! Make sure that your phone automatically locks if you’re not using it and create a PIN or passcode to unlock it. You might be able to utilize your fingerprint, your face or your iris for even better protection.
- Update it! Your operating system has security features built in. Phone manufacturers regularly push out free updates to protect you against security threats. You can even set your phone up to automatically update.
- Back it up! If you break or lose your phone and your information isn’t backed up, you may not be able to recover all of the important information, and valuable photos you have stored on your phone. You can even turn on the feature that helps you track a lost or stolen phone as well as remotely lock or erase your phone if someone steals it or you can’t find it.

Having your information protected will make it easier to deal with a lost phone or tablet knowing your privacy will be difficult or impossible to access.
